The ego is a massive contraction of who you really are.
It is as if all your attention focused on one cell in, say, your little toe, and you thought you were that one cell.
Firstly, there would be some fascination in the life of that cell. It’s functioning would become an arresting experience.
Secondly, you would become concerned about the health and longevity of the cell. It’s death would be a terrifying inevitably because, having identified with the cell, it’s death would be your death.
Yet all this concern would be unnecessary. The cell functions without attention and it’s death is natural and inconsequential to the human being.
In the same way is the human mind and body, to who you really are.
