Even in misery, there is a background of bliss

Even in misery, there is a background of bliss.

But the feelings of misery arising are magnetic to the ego. They draw it in close.

A tightly bound ego is prickly and sensitive.

Withdraw to the background of bliss.

At first, this may be difficult. The ego appears to have a firm grasp. Even if the background is glimpsed, that is good.

Then, something happens. The background becomes the foreground and suffering becomes an echo.

Disempowered so, the feelings of misery wither and die.
